Daily grooming typically involves brushing, combing, dematting, and defelting. This is the “Grooming” step of the FURminator® Ultimate Hair Reduction System. Daily brushing helps keep your pet’s coat healthy, shiny, and smooth by distributing oils throughout the skin and coat. If your pet’s coat becomes matted, defelting is also a necessary part of daily grooming. When done regularly, the entire process only takes a few minutes. Daily grooming is an important preliminary to the weekly deShedding portion of the grooming regimen. Regular brushing and detangling helps ensure that your pet’s coat does not have any tangles or mats, which can be uncomfortable during the deShedding process. Grooming your pet daily also gives you the opportunity to physically examine your pet for wounds, bruises, and skin conditions that may be hidden beneath his or her coat. If your pet has any of these, seek veterinary attention before continuing with grooming. The FURminator® Dual Grooming Brush is a 2-in-1 brush with hard and soft bristles that grooms and finishes the coat.
The FURminator® Adjustable Dematter Tool removes mats safely and easily. Use daily or as often as needed on dry hair as part of the 4-step FURminator® Ultimate Hair Reduction System. Always use the FURminator® Adjustable deMatter Tool as directed. Matting can be very uncomfortable for your pet, and if left untreated, it becomes increasingly difficult to remove. The deMatter Tool prevents mats from getting worse by removing them completely. It works on most hair types, long or short, thick or fine, and on most animal species. Always use on dry hair of any hair type so that the mats are loose. Treat mats gently and purposefully. Removing large, untreated mats can be time-consuming. Brushing or combing your dog daily can help prevent mats from forming. Once mats are removed, it is easier to prevent new mats from forming with regular brushing.
